Annie Gisler
Born in 1983 in Switzerland.
After my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Photography at Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK), I studied a variety of film courses in Buenos Aires and San Jose (CR), and then completed a year of film director studies at the Spanish School of Cinema in Madrid (ECAM). I completed my film studies towards a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Filmmaking at the ZHdK.
Since 2013 I work in both documentary and fiction, exploring the topics of sexuality, gender, intimacy and women related issues. With humor, curiosity and a lot of empathy, I like to explore life through film making, ask intimate questions and uncover what was swept under the rug.
My short films SUNDAY WITH THE FAMILY (2013) and CELESTINE (2013) were shown at international festivals and won several awards. My first feature documentary about female orgasm, THE LITTLE DEATH (2018), has been screened at international festivals as well on TV all over the world and won 4 awards.
